It’s been a while but Biggleswade AC’s two senior lady trail/fell runners were back in action at the weekend in the Barton 10K trail race.  Fi Hunter-Wynde and Julie Balaam (pictured left) finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively, with Fi also receiving a trophy for being the first Lady Vet 35.

There were also some other notable achievements by Biggleswade AC members last weekend:

  • Daniel Hemming won the Cambridge Junior parkrun;
  • Paul Davies, Lainey Stead and Pete Howell all achieved new personal best times at the Peterborough and Wimpole parkruns; and,
  • though not competing for Biggleswade AC on this occasion, Ryan Smith won the St Neots Sprint Triathlon for his ‘other’ club, the Army Triathlon Association.

There was an abundance of personal best times, as well as a couple of trophies, from four senior Biggleswade AC athletes who travelled down to Battersea Park in the early hours of Saturday morning to take part in the Self-Transcendence 10 Mile race.  Despite the strong winds, and a temperamental car, Isobel Everest, Paul Cooke and Paul Davies all managed new PBs with John Haines also breaking the club record for his age category.  John and Isobel also received trophies for being 2nd Veteran Male and 1st Senior Lady athletes, respectively.

Results:
Paul Davies 58.47 PB
Paul Cooke 64.50 PB
Isobel Everest 67.24 PB 1st Senior Lady
John Haines 68.20 CR 2nd Vet Male

It was also a good outing for junior member, Daniel Hemming, as he finished in 4th place at the Cambridge Junior parkrun on Sunday and senior athlete, Lindsay Lister, competed in the 400m at the England Athletic Masters Inter-Area Track & Field Challenge held at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.  In a very competitive field, Lindsay finished in an amazing 4th place in the W35 category race, in a time of 69.49.
