It has been a fantastic start to 2016 for the Biggleswade AC ladies cross-country team.
Juliet was in action, again, last weekend in the Lode Half Marathon. This flat and fast course can sometimes get a bit muddy in places – conditions that Juliet thrives upon – and she didn’t disappoint, finishing in 6th place overall and being the first lady to cross the line in a club record breaking time of 1hr 25mins 31secs (a new personal best by over a minute).
Biggleswade AC ladies cross-country team managed a fantastic result at the first match of the Three Counties Cross Country League at a very muddy, Wellingborough on Sunday 25th October. Continue reading
More Biggleswade Athletic Club records fell last weekend as Dan Steel broke the indoor club record in both the long jump and the shot put at the Brunel University Jump and Throws Festival and Isobel Everest claimed a new ladies 20 mile club record at the Wymondham 20.
Competing on Saturday, it was Dan’s first time over 6 metres in the long jump, so a new indoor personal best distance as well as a new indoor club record. His record breaking score in the shot put, as well as a good solid performance in the high jump, made for an excellent end to the indoor season.
Meanwhile, in windy conditions and on an undulating course, Isobel ran a controlled race at Wymondham to finish ahead of coach and fellow runner, Paul Davies, in a new ladies 20 mile club record time of 2 hrs 23 mins 24 secs, as well as being the 1st in the FV40 age category and 3rd lady overall.
And yet more success for Biggleswade AC in the Leighton 10K as Juliet Nayler crossed the finish line in a time of 39 mins 50 secs (2 mins ahead of her nearest rival), to win the prize for being 1st lady.
