Biggleswade AC distance runners, Melanie Brooks and Cat Marriott, took on the South Downs Way 50, a 50 mile, self-guided run along the South Downs Way from Hillbarn, in South Croydon, to Eastbourne, on the south coast.
Sadly, Cat didn’t make the cut-off time at the mile 41 checkpoint, but Mel did and pushed on to finish this challenging course in a very respectable time of 10hrs 34mins – 206th out of 500 entrants and 25th lady.
Multi-talented athlete, Dan Steel, was back in action again, last weekend, competing in the Good Friday Open Meeting at Welwyn Garden City and then the Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow Open on the Saturday.
Dan notched up a new personal best throw in the discus on Friday, and (very nearly) a new PB in the 100m, and Saturday yielded his longest jump of the weekend, a distance of 6.12m.
Finally, congratulations to Linsday Lister and Peter Howell for their excellent parkrun results, last weekend. Lindsay finished 1st in her age category in a time of 22mins 11secs at Bedford parkrun, and Pete finished in a new course personal best time of 26mins 7secs at a very muddy and windy Wimpole Estate parkrun.
