Last Wednesday (18th March) Biggleswade AC hosted the annual Bedfordshire Schools Cross Country Relays at Rowney Warren, near Chicksands.
A total of 6 schools from the local area participated in the event with just over 100 school children competing in the relays, and a huge welcome to Etonbury Academy and Rushmoor School who were competing for the first time at the event.
In the first race of the day over the 1km relay route, the boys school years 5 and 6 race, Lincroft took the top two steps on the podium with Holywell Middle School claiming third.
In the girls school years 5 and 6 race, Lincroft claimed the top spot, with Alban Academy taking second and Etonbury Academy claiming third.
Over the same course, in the boys school years 7 and 8 race, Rushmoor School finished first, with Holywell Middle School and Lincroft finishing second and third, respectively.
In the girls school year 7 and 8, it was a close battle between Lincroft and Holywell Middle School with, Lincroft winning by one second. Lincroft also managed to claim third place.
The final race of the day saw the boys and girls, in school years 9 and 10, competing over the longer 1.5km relay route, with Rushmoor School winning the boys race and St Andrews winning the girls.
In the competition for the fastest lap in each race Lincroft and Holywell Middle School won two races, with Rushmoor School and St Andrews taking a win each. Jacob Primett (Holywell Middle School) won the fastest lap in the boys school years 5 and 6 last year and won the boys school years 7 and 8 this year.

Girls school year 9 and 10 (1.5km) – St Andrews – Francesa Milburn – 7mins 12secs
